The designs for this range of leggings came from a visit to Malahide Castle, and the butterfly greenhouse which houses over 20 species of tropical butterflies.
This particular pair of leggings was designed around the patterns on the wings of the Rumanzovia Swallowtail Butterfly (also known as the “Scarlet Mormon”), found native to the Philippines, Taiwan, parts of eastern Indonesia and Australia. The females are distinguished by their dramatic and elegant red and black markings, and I was so taken with the pattern of their wings that I created this strong and fierce design.
These leggings have a raised waistband with a soft, wide, clear elastic for extra comfort, a hidden pocket in the waistband seam, are sewn with a flat seam cover stitch, and have a triangle-shaped gusset crotch for extra strength and comfort.
The fabric is 82% polyester and 18% spandex, is 38-40 UPF, and the material has a four-way stretch, so the fabric stretches and recovers on the cross and lengthwise grains. Precision-cut and hand-sewn after printing

Please be aware that contact with rough surfaces and velcro fasteners should be avoided since they could pull out the white fibres in the fabric and could damage the leggings’ appearance.
